Awesome-viewDo you ever wish that you could get a comprehensive view of how b2b marketers are utilizing social media so that you can see what works and what doesn't? If you're anything like me then you definitely have! You may or may not know that Social Media Examiner and Hubspot have both come out with comprehensive reports on social media marketing.

While I strongly encourage you to read these in depth social media reports for yourself (they offer a plethora of insights in their combined 101 pages), I have taken the time to summarize Hubspot's 2015 Social Media Benchmarks Report and Social Media Examiner's 2014 Social Media Marketing Industry Report (their 2015 report should come out in May) and share takeaways that are especially applicable for b2b marketers.

ScreenShot2015-03-09at8.38.53PMIf you've read my recent post: Got Milk? Got Leads? - Changing Perceptions and B2B Buyer Behavior you know that one of my undergraduate Communications classes at UGA, Persuasion, looks at advertisements (usually B2C television ads) and dissects their method of persuasion and how affective it is.

One day in class we watched a video from Robert Cialdini, the author of best selling book Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion. Cialdini has been conducting research on the psychology of persuasion for over 35 years. The video we watched looks into the 6 universal shortcuts that humans use to guide their decision making.

Do you know what these 6 universal principles of persuasion are? And more importantly, are you applying them to your b2b marketing efforts in ethical and creative ways? If you couldn't confidently answer either of these questions, then you came to the right place.

Here's the principles and how to use them to improve your marketing:

Inbound Marketing Insights: Can The B2B Blog Comment Be Resurrected?

R.I.P.-Blog-CommentsA few months ago I received a copy of Inbound Marketing by Hubspot Cofounders, Brian Halligan and Dharmesh Shah, and finally got around to reading it a few weeks ago.

Over the next couple of weeks, I will be sharing insights from the book for your reading pleasure. Last week I shared about the Grateful Dead and Niche Marketing.

This week’s insight from the book is on blog comments.

In their chapter on blogging, Dharmesh and Brian touch on the subject of blog comments somewhat, but it is not a main point. As a b2b inbound marketer, I have often wondered: “What is the value of a blog comment?” For the reader, the commenter, and the blogger.

This post is an attempt to answer that question. I will draw on material from Inbound Marketing and pair it with some of my own research
